Redcar & Cleveland Violence against women Forum

The forum (formally known as Redcar & Cleveland Domestic Violence Forum) came into being in the mid 1990’s as an independent agency responding to the need to develop a multi agency approach to domestic violence in Redcar & Cleveland. It was a focal driver for the development of ideas and projects that would contribute to the multi agency approach.

Representatives were drawn from statutory, voluntary and private sectors and included local authority members, social services, education, youth services, probation service, solicitors, police, and local womens groups and organisations.

In 2000 it was invited to take on the role of a task group contributing to the crime and disorder partnership through the local community safety partnership.

The forum agreed and developed a working relationship with the community safety officers and police domestic violence unit officers.

The forum meets approximately every six weeks and is open to representatives from any agency or organisation who wish to become involved in the work of the forum
